President in a meeting with UN Secretary General:

If negotiating side with Iran would have sufficient will, the matters can be solved

President Hassan Rouhani conferred with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the 4th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), on Wednesday.

In the meeting, the two sides reviewed issues of mutual interest as well as regional and international developments and explored avenues for upholding the status of CICA in various arenas including peace, security, fight against terrorism, bolstering economic cooperation, protecting the environment and preventing proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Iran Voices Concern over Syrian Crisis
President voiced his concern over the ongoing Syrian crisis, and called for collective efforts to resolve the country's problems.
President Rouhani said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always felt concerns over the regional issues, specially the Syrian issue,"
As regards the Syrian crisis all countries should accept that the problems of this country won't be resolved through military means, but unfortunately today some countries are supporters of terrorists and supply them with weaponry and financial assistance contrary to what they say, Dr.Rouhani said.
Suspending elections under the present conditions is not possible
President Rouhani pointed to some proposals to suspend the election in Syria, and said "We believe that suspending elections under the present conditions is not possible and if we try to create appropriate conditions for holding the election under a tranquil condition, a healthy election might be possible in that country."
president referred to the problems of other regional countries like Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt and Libya, and said, "We believe that all countries should join hands to fight terrorism."
UN Ready to Help Iran in Fight against Global Extremism
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon voiced the world body's preparedness to cooperate with Iran to help eradicate extremism in the world.
"The UN is ready to cooperate with Iran and other countries to eradicate violence and extremism in the world," Ban said during the meeting on the sidelines of the Fourth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in the Chinese capital today.
Ban hailed the president's World against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) proposal which was ratified by the UN last year, and lamented that the world is suffering from extremism and violence as acute problems.
"Today extremism and violence have resulted in global instability."
