To attend the Conference of CICA:

President arrives in China

President Hassan Rouhani arrived in the Shanghai, China, on Tuesday to attend the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Upon arrival, President Rouhani was warmly welcomed by Vice Foreign Minister of China, Vice mayor of Shanghai, Iranian Ambassador in China and other Local senior officials.
The idea of convening the CICA was first proposed by Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev in October 1992, at the 47th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, for restoration of peace and stability to the region.
CICA summits are held every four years while its ministerial meetings are conducted every two years.
The first CICA summit was held on June 4, 2002 with participation of 16 member states where the Almaty Act, the charter of the CICA, was adopted.
The CICA member-states include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cambodia, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, South Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
President Rouhani is set to hold talks with a number of his counterparts, on the sidelines of the event.
He will also visit Iranians living in China, businessmen and Iranian embassy staff.
Dr.Rouhani and Chinese president will meet and discuss important regional and international issues.
President Rouhani is accompanied by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Head of the Presidential Office Mohammad Nahavandian, Minister of Roads and Rural Development Abbas Akhoundi, Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and Presidentˈs special aide Hossein Fereydoun during his visit to China.
