The meeting which lasted more than an hour was held on the sidelines of the 'Stoning the Satan' ritual at Mina.



President Ahmadinejad returned home Saturday morning.



The two key figures of the Islamic world discussed issues of mutual interest including promotion of Tehran-Riyadh relations as two pillars of the Islamic world to defuse enemies' plots for sowing discord among Muslims.



The two stressed the need for further bilateral cooperation at regional and international organizations such as the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC).



They also discussed major regional developments including the situation in Iraq and Lebanon.



Moreover, the Iranian president referred to the renovation project of the Grand Mosque in the holy city of Mecca, east of Saudi Arabia and voiced Tehran's readiness to provide Riyadh with technical and engineering services in this connection.



President Ahmadinejad also invited King Abdullah to pay a visit to Iran.



The King of Saudi Arabia said that President Ahmadinejad's participation in the PGCC summit in Doha, Qatar, was the first major step towards promotion of regional cooperation.



The Iranian president took part in the summit which was held in the Qatari capital on December 3-4.
