Government not after exercising censorship

President Hassan Rouhani stressed that the Iranian government is not after exercising censorship and is determined to observe the dignity and position of men of literature.

The President made the remarks here Tuesday morning while addressing the opening ceremony of The 27th Tehran International Book Fair.
He said he is proud to head and lead a government which is targeted with the most criticism because it shows his cabinet has created an atmosphere wherein people feel quite free to easily make their comments and extend criticism.
He noted that the route to future is quite vivid for the Iranian nation, stressing that the country is pursuing peace and tranquility, moderation,progress and ethics.
The President called on men of literature to observe national interests and pay due respect to the public culture, religion, national sovereignty and national unity.
He said the Iranian nation would never give space to those who are seeking to create discord among tribes, nationalities and religious sects.
