President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Tuesday that Iran and Japan can be harbingers of interaction, friendship and logic in the world.

He made the remark while receiving credentials of the new Japanese Ambassador to Tehran Akio Shirota.



Referring to cultural commonalties between the two nations, Ahmadinejad termed Tehran-Tokyo relations as "amicable".



"There has been no dark point in the two countries relations up to now," he added.



He underscored the need for resisting against unipolar approaches stressing that the era for such approaches has ended in the world.



Akio Shirota for his part called for expansion of Tehran-Tokyo relations and cooperation at regional and international levels.
