
President returns home from Qatar visit

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad returned home from his day-long visit to Qatar Monday evening.
The Iranian president arrived in Doha Monday morning to attend the Summit of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) at the invitation of Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
The Iranian president was welcomed at Doha airport by the Qatari Emir.
During his stay, he addressed the opening session of the 28th PGCC summit.
President Ahmadinejad also met and conferred with the Qatari Emir, the UAE Emir Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed al-Nahyan and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on the sidelines of the summit.
The Iranian president was accompanied by his senior advisor, Mojtaba Samareh-Hashemi, and Deputy Foreign Minister for Mideast and Africa, Mohammad-Reza Baqeri.
It was the first time that the PGCC states had invited an Iranian president to their summit as a guest.
Upon arrival at Mehrabad International Airport, President Ahmadinejad was welcomed by First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi and the Supreme Leader's advisor, Ali-Akbar Velayati.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman are members of the PGCC.
