President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left Tehran for Doha, Qatar, Monday to attend the Summit of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC).

President Ahmadinejad is to take part in the PGCC summit to kick off in Doha on Monday at the invitation of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
The Iranian president is accompanied by his senior advisor, Mojtaba Samareh-Hashemi, and Deputy Foreign Minister for Mideast and Africa, Mohammad-Reza Baqeri.
President Ahmadinejad was seen off at Mehrabad International Airport by the Supreme Leader's representative Hojatoleslam Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani, First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi and several other officials of the country.
This is the first time that the PGCC states have invited Iranian president to their summit as a guest.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman are members of the PGCC.
