
Addressing the 12th ECO Summit in Baku:
President calls for formation of ECO eco-political forum
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for formation of an economic and political forum for the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
President made the remarks Tuesday while addressing the 12th ECO Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.
He said it was necessary to establish a political and economic consultative forum to create coordination among member states of international bodies such as the United Nations aimed at reforming their structures.
He said the establishment of the forum with participation of ECO member states’ private and governmental sectors could help expand economic cooperation.
President Ahmadinejad further called for promotion of economic, industrial and agricultural cooperation within ECO and noted that completion of railroad transportation circle will enable the organization to use capacities of Caspian, Oman, Black and Aegean seas as well as the Persian Gulf.
He stressed that the inefficiency and discriminatory nature of capitalist systems have become more apparent in the past two decades, adding that nations have long become disappointed with their reforms.
President said that all nations are now demanding reforms.
