Dr.Ahmadinejad told reporters at Mehrabad International Airport before his departure.

“Today, we will attend the UN [meeting] to be able to convey the message of the Iranian nation for the overhaul of the global management system,” said Dr.Ahmadinejad.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad pointed to Iran’s rotational presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for the next three years and noted that as the representative of the Movement, Tehran will discuss NAM’s proposals with regard to restructuring the UN and resolving the regional crises, such as the ongoing violence in Syria.

"The UN seems to be meant for defending the rights of nations, but I will reveal what is going on behind the scene of the UN in due time," said Dr.Ahmadinejad.

"The UN was apparently set up for all nations to benefit from ties and have equal footings, but today we can see the situation of the UN (which is different from what it should be)," he added.

Dr.Ahmadinejad underlined that progress in the world depends on correcting the global relations and establishment of a just and humane world order, and added, "We should make efforts so that our nation and all nations enjoy their interests."

President noted that, on the sidelines of the session, he will also hold talks with senior officials from the participating countries, anti-war groups and peace activists, religious leaders, Iranian nationals in the US as well as the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Dr.Ahmadinejad also said he will take part in interviews with different international media.
