President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here on Friday, “World today needs the school, ideals and culture which lies behind the Islamic Republic of Iran’s flag; Iran’s flag is a symbol of nations’ unity, its internal and international relations as well as its present and future life.”

President made the remarks Friday afternoon in the ceremony of hoisting the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the top of the longest flagpole.

President Ahmadinejad said that Iran wants peace, prosperity and justice for all human beings.

Dr.Ahmadinejad noted that Monotheism is the main symbol of Iran’s flag and this means Iranian nation wants monotheism, justice, peace and prosperity for all human beings around the world.

Hoisting Iranian flag on the longest flagpole went underway at the Sacred Defense Garden and Museum in Tehran.

The flagpole is the longest in Iran and the third longest in the world which is 210 m high which was located 1,570 m above sea level, thus ranking the first in this regard in the world.

The flagpole is 150 m tall and the flag measures 42 by 24 m made of polyester which weighs 200 kg. The flag is meant to represent Iran’s culture while being a symbol of its culture and religion. It was installed at Sacred Defense Garden across Taleqani Park in Tehran.
