Dr.Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with the visiting senior Hamas official, Mahmoud al-Zahar, on Sunday.

President Ahmadinejad said: “Arrogant powers and enemies of nations are trying to manage the developments in the region so as to save the Zionist regime [from obliteration].”

“We should not downplay and underestimate the plots and actions of the enemies, because they are seeking to save the Zionist regime with more sophisticated plots. To that effect, they may pretend to rebuke the Zionist regime, but their main objective is to save this regime,” president said.

“We have to be more vigilant in a bid to be able to neutralize their conspiracies,” he added.

“We hope that all nations would soon obtain their rights including freedom, election, independence and self-determination,” he said.

Turning to the ongoing crisis in Syria, president said, “Efforts should be undertaken so that all issues could be resolved through understanding, collaboration and friendliness so that people would be able to hold a free election.”

For his part, al-Zahar offered his gratitude to the Islamic Republic for its “unflinching” support for the Palestinians.

He said, “The Palestinians and Palestinian groups would not change their policies and plans until they reach all their goals.”
