President visits quake-hit areas in Azerbaijan Province
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday paid a short-noticed visit to the quake-stricken areas in northwestern East Azerbaijan Province.
During the visit, President Ahmadinejad received first hand information on aid shipment and distribution among the quake-torn citizens.
He ordered removing problems of the people within shortest possible time.
The quakes struck East Azerbaijan Province on Saturday afternoon, flattening villages and injuring thousands of people around the towns of Ahar, Varzaqan and Haris, near Tabriz.
