President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expressed hope that the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Saudi Arabia will help reinforce unity among Muslim countries.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expressed hope that the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Saudi Arabia will help reinforce unity among Muslim countries.

"We consider this summit as a chance for our nation's viewpoint to be explained transparently and for efforts to be made towards the convergence and protection of the interests and existence of Muslim nations," Dr.Ahmadinejad said before leaving Tehran for Mecca on Monday morning.

President pointing to the recent developments in the Muslim world said Iran expects the summit to address the most pressing issues of Muslim countries and help put an end to enmities among Muslims.

"A significant portion of the energy of Muslim governments and groups is spent on internal conflicts and damaging each other," said Dr.Ahmadinejad.

Dr.Ahmadinejad said he would hold bilateral meetings with several heads of state during the OIC summit.
