President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with the participants of a consultative meeting on Syria held in Tehran’s Azadi Hotel on Thursday.

“The governments and nations should decide for themselves while making efforts for bringing about real changes in their relations. They should also do their best to make a better world while insisting on the fundamental rights of the nations and implementation of justice,” he added.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says wars and interventions by ‘the colonial powers’ cannot produce reforms, noting that ‘the opportunist’ Western states have never intervened in other countries on humanitarian grounds.

“I do not know of any power among the major Western powers that has intervened in a country for the sake of humanity; whatever they do is for self interest,” said President Ahmadinejad.

Noting that ‘the colonialist powers’ nowadays attempt to impose their will on nations under the pretext of making reforms, the president argued that such a trend will eventually lead to war and added that reforms can never be implemented by inciting conflicts and hostilities.

He cautioned that all nations must exercise vigilance towards such tendencies and pointed out that freedom and justice constitutes a national right that must be achieved cooperatively and without bloodshed and foreigners must not be allowed to meddle in such a development, since any foreign intervention would exacerbate the situation.

He thanked the foreign delegations for taking part in the consultative meeting on Syria, an issue which has immensely affected the humanity.

President Ahmadinejad expressed hope Tehran meeting will serve as a prelude to and effective method for creating of peace and security in the world.

Referring to the fact that the world is in a drastic situation at present, the president noted that the world needs reforms at two levels at the present and the priority should be given to the international relations.

He said that the incumbent ruling systems have not had suitable consequences for the mankind and only the distances, discriminations, hatreds and animosities have been achieved as a result of the performance of such ruling systems.

“The existing conditions of the world are not acceptable by any means and the God has certainly not created humans to live under such circumstances,” President Ahmadinejad added.

He mentioned the fact that a few minorities who possess the power and wealth in the world are ruling the world and they want to determine the fate of all nations and world affairs, as well as impose their will on other nations.

President went on to describe the US as a “bankrupt government that survives on other people’s money,” saying a government that has a $16 trillion foreign debt should not be allowed to release $32 trillion worth of paper money to plunder the wealth of other nations.

President Ahmadinejad added that if those [countries] that provided the US with the $16 trillion worth of loans demand repayment, the country would go bankrupt. “In politics as well, US rulers have managed to stay at pinnacles of power through deception, just like an athlete that rises to victory through doping,” he said.

He further asserted that the American people remain under pressure and have no say in their nation’s affairs, noting that all their exchanges, communications and social associations are monitored and tapped as in a high-security zone.

“Today the power, wealth and media in the world is owned and controlled by these minorities and they introduce themselves as benchmark for all values while considering freedom, justice and democracy as what they introduce to others. Any country or nation who defies them (the world’s big powers) and wants to live independently is pressured by them,” the president added.

Officials and representatives from over 30 countries took part in the one-day International consultative Summit on Syria in the Iranian capital on Thursday.
