The “Soltanieh” power plant has a capacity of 648 megawatts. The construction work of the project started three years ago, with its first phase implemented within 16 months.

When the power plant is operational, the province and a number of its neighboring cities are expected to face no electricity problems.

A local official said that over 90 percent of the equipment devised for the power plant by the Iranian experts are environment-friendly and follow the latest international standards.

President Ahmadinejad arrived in Zanjan this morning.

He also inaugurated a road connecting two provincial towns.

The president is to inaugurate some 7,000 residential units, constructed in the province within the framework of “Mehr” project, later on the day.
