President Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari in the Chinese capital where the 12th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting is underway.

The President said the bullying powers sent their puppet groups to the region years ago under the pretext of fighting the former Soviet Union but they were originally designed to fight regional countries instead and prevent them from gaining development.

President said the hegemonic powers are meddling in the inter-regional affairs and think only of their own interests.

He then called for deepening regional friendships that would help resolve regional problems.

He added the existing problems in Pakistan and Afghanistan have been aggravated by the foreign interference.

About Tehran-Islamabad relations, the president hoped they would increase.

President Zardari for his part talked about the global questions saying they should be solved through dialogue.

The Iranian and Pakistani presidents also reviewed the latest international and regional questions.

The two countries exchange delegations on a regular basis and their leaders are resolved to further accelerate expansion of ties and cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

They also underlined the need for further expansion of all-out ties, particularly in the field of economy.
