
In a message to a ceremony commemorating 8,000 martyrs of chemical attacks:
The government would spare no efforts to defend the rights of the chemical crippled
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here on Wednesday that the explicit stance and ideal of the Islamic Republic is based on the establishment of peace and security in accordance with the national interests of all nations and a world free of weapons of mass destruction; he added that government will defends the rights of the crippled and the great family of the martyrs of chemical attacks.
In a message to a ceremony commemorating 8,000 martyrs of chemical attacks, he said that based on the sublime teachings of Islam and the religious orders of the Supreme Leader production and use of such weapons are forbidden.
President Ahmadinejad said that Iran has never been after producing or using weapons of mass destruction.
According to the principles the Islamic Iran pursues, annihilation of all mass destruction weapons is a sacred goal which will guarantee security and safety of the human kind, hence all world countries should cooperate to attain this objective, the President emphasized.
Saying that over a quarter of century ago the world witnessed one of the darkest stages of man’s history in the form of attack undertaken against Iran by the Baathist Iraqi regime, Ahmadinejad said.
Having been disappointed by the brave defense of the Iranian nation, the Iraqi regime bombed Iran’s border areas with thousands of chemical weapons which left behind over one hundred thousands of martyred or wounded, the President regretted.
The president stressed that Iran has always insisted on a world clear of any kind of weapons of mass destruction.
