President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday all historical documents testify to the authenticity of the Persian Gulf name.

He made the remarks in an address to a large crowd of people on the Persian Gulf Island of Abu Musa in Hormuzgan province.

Dr.Ahmadinejad said it is a crystal clear fact that Persian Gulf is Iranian and no one can doubt or ignore it.

He said some elements are effective in naming places the most important of which is the dominant culture, civilization or thought.

The President said when a culture, civilization or thought is widespread and dominant in a region, all try to choose names in consistent with that culture or civilization.

President Ahmadinejad said “since thousands of years ago, Iranian culture and civilization has been dominant in a vast part of the world and it was natural to name places after this culture and civilization.'

He said Iran is not concerned about claims about the name of the Persian Gulf because one who is weak is always worried.

Underlining the importance of security in the Persian Gulf, Dr.Ahmadinejad said ' When we say the Persian Gulf should be safe we mean it should be safe for all.'
