President Ahmadinejad made the remarks addressing the third International Nowruz Celebrations underway in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

President Ahmadinejad said the Nowruz fest is an opportunity for taking steps towards regional tranquility.

Nowruz invites the world people to friendship and justice and encourages them to stand against injustice, noted the President.

He reiterated that Nowruz carries the message of solidarity to the world nations.

President Ahmadinejad arrived in Dushanbe on Saturday to attend the event. He is also to hold talks with his Persian-speaking counterparts there.

A celebration on Nowruz is held annually as the International Nowruz Day has been proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on March 21.

It is an ancient festivity that promotes values of peace and solidarity between generations and within families as well as reconciliation and neighborliness, thus contributing to cultural diversity and friendship among different peoples and communities.

The first and second international celebrations on Nowruz were held in Tehran in the past two years.
