Iran, Pakistan need further promotion of ties
Islamic Republic of Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the current regional and international circumstance necessitates the expansion of ties between Iran and Pakistan.
President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad on Thursday.
'Friendship and bonds between the Iranian and Pakistani nations should become deeper and Tehran-Islamabad ties should be based on their common cultural background,' he added.
President Zardari and President Ahmadinejad emphasized the need for promotion of ties between two countries more than any time before in view of their national interests and also their common enemies.
During their bilateral talks, Dr. Ahmadinejad and Zardari said that the urgency for expansion of ties between two brother countries of Iran and Pakistan is quite inevitable.
President Zardari for his part said that Pakistan has always regarded Iran as a brother and friend country.
