Dr.Ahmadinejad and Dmitry Medvedev emphasized on the close cooperation between Tehran and Moscow for resolving the regional issues.



They also called for the expansion of economic relations between the two countries and underlined the need for using national currencies in mutual commercial transactions, and eliminating the dollar from the transactions.



President Ahmadinejad stated that both countries have reached an agreement in this regard, adding that such consensus will lead to an increase in the volume of Iran-Russia trade transactions.



President Ahmadinejad emphasized on the Caspian Sea legal regime while noting that the useful agreements have been reached on preventing the presence of foreign forces in the Caspian Sea which prevents the militarization of the sea.



President Dmitry Medvedev for his part said that Russia similar to the Islamic Republic of Iran favors the settlement of crises in some regional countries through peaceful means and holding political talks while voicing its opposition to any foreign or military interference in the regional countries.



He noted that the potential for cooperation between the two sides is much higher than the existing levels, adding that Moscow seeks to increase the volume of trade transactions within the framework of the bilateral joint economic commission.



Medvedev also noted to the importance of the Caspian Sea and expressed his country's opposition to any foreign military presence in the region. He added that the Caspian Sea littoral states should decide how to use the natural resources of the sea.



The Russian leader referred to Iran's nuclear power plant in the southern city of Bushehr as a symbol of cooperation and friendship between Tehran and Moscow while reiterating on the continuation of such cooperation, and emphasized Iran's right to use peaceful nuclear energy.
