President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in an interview with Iran TV network, Channel One, on Saturday night, has announced that in the framework of Subsidies Regulating Plan, prices of some items of energy will change from tomorrow (Sunday).
President said: “In this stage, we don’t want to release prices, rather we are going to regulate and reform them. This begins on Sunday, December 19, 2010.”
President also asked Iranians not to hurry in withdrawing the funds from their bank accounts.
He also vowed that the Iranian government would tackle economic problems such as housing, unemployment and the banking system by implementing the plan.
Before the official announcement of the plan, every family member received a sum of 810,000 rials ($80) for two months.
Under the new rationing system, the price of gasoline will rise four-fold from 1,000 rials (10 cents) per liter to 4,000 rials (40 cents) per liter as of Sunday. Fuel beyond a person's quota -- which is 50 liters per month -- is now sold at 7,000 rials (70 cents) per liter, up from 40 cents.
Referring to recent negotiations between Iran and Group 5+1 in Geneva, the president said that now it is time for these countries to change confrontation policy into policy of cooperation.
The president said, in recent years, the west did its best to prevent Iran from being nuclear, so they used all policies; including imposing sanctions and other kinds of pressures and propaganda, but they were not effective and Iran became nuclear by defeating all those policies.
He continued that resolutions and sanctions had no effect on Iran, but they became a motive for nation to move forward, so if those countries want to continue such policies, their consequences are clear from now.
Another way that those countries have is changing the route of confrontation with cooperation.
Head of Supreme National Security Council evaluated Geneva 3 talks ‘good' and added that Iran’s representative in the negotiation addressed the meeting correctly and resolutely and the talks were completely good.
He said changing confrontation policy with interaction would be beneficial for all adding that in case of using interaction policy, all will be winners and this is what Iran has been following from the beginning.
Dr.Ahmadinejad underlined that in a constructive cooperation atmosphere, everybody would be a winner and pointed out that why we should enter into a situation that nations lose their rights and there would be no positive result either.
He said those countries behavior on Iran’s nuclear issue 'can't be defended' and condemned it.
Now, when the situations have changed and confrontation policy against Iran nuclear issue has failed and Iran now has turned into a nuclear country, they should accept the reality.
Dr.Ahmadinejad underlined that moving toward cooperation is the best way in Iran’s nuclear issue adding that we hope in Istanbul, Brazil and Tehran talks, we reach a framework of constructive cooperation.
He expressed hope that the atmosphere moves toward understanding and cooperation and that Iranians will welcome cooperation.
