President Ahmadinejad was welcomed at the airport by First Vice-President Mohammed Fahim and Minister of Counternarcotics Ahmad Moqbel Zarar.



He will be officially welcomed within hours at the Presidential Palace by President Karzai.



President Ahmadinejad’s visit is taking place at the invitation of his Afghan counterpart and is the former’s first visit to Afghanistan after President Karzai’s re-election.



The two sides are to discuss major related issues including bilateral relations.
