President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday said that the Persian Gulf is the region of friendship, collective cooperation, brotherhood and sustainable peace.

He made the remarks while addressing the 5th national cultural and tourism seminar on the Persian Gulf held in the southern Kish island to commemorate the National Persian Gulf Day (April 30).
President Ahmadinejad reiterated that the problems arising now and again in the Persian Gulf region are resulted from interference of foreigners who are present in the region to rule over the entire region.
He added that historical studies prove that the Persian Gulf has always belonged to the Iranian territory.
The President reiterated that the Iranian nation has always been fond of friendship and peace throughout the globe.
Meanwhile, the symphony of Persian Gulf was played at the conference in Persian and Arabic languages.
In related developments, the Iranian President rang the “National Bell of the Persian Gulf” at a girls' high school in the port city of Kish.
