Addressing a local seminar on Iran's medical sciences achievements, the president lauded the country's progress in the sector in the past three decades.



He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is able to and should play an active role as the world reference to medicine.



Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the seminar, President Ahmadinejad said that the Islamic Republic is among the four or five world top countries with regards to medical sciences innovation.



Referring to presence of many foreign physicians in Iran before the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, he said currently the country is in a position that can export experienced and committed physicians to other countries.



Today, almost all major surgeries performed in the world are being carried out successfully in the Islamic Iran, the president added.
