Work harder for deepening political, economic, cultural relations/Economic issues in foreign relations key

President met with the new ambassadors of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Poland, Japan, Vatican, Italy, Ireland, Slovenia, Finland, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Mali, Colombia, Bulgaria, and the Permanent Ambassador and Representative of Iran to the United Nations Office in Geneva.

Speaking with the new ambassadors on Tuesday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani stressed more efforts by the ambassadors to strengthen and consolidate Iran's political, economic and cultural relations in the international stage.

"If any of you take an important step in economic fields, especially in strengthening cooperation between Iranian companies and private sector enterprises with the countries of your mission, it can be very important," added Rouhani.

The president stressed: "We need to turn the current situation and the pressure from the US government into an opportunity for ever-increasing progress, we can certainly get past this situation".

Dr Rouhani also expressed happiness with the selection of Ms Parvin Farshchi as Iran's Ambassador to Finland, saying: "We are very happy to have the opportunity for women to demonstrate their talent in international stages and affairs".

The President noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had taken good steps to select women and fellow Sunni Iranians as ambassadors and that the trend should continue on the basis of merit and commitment.
