The tripartite summit of the Presidents of Iran, Russia, and Turkey began on Wednesday in Sochi, Russia with Dr Hassan Rouhani, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan taking part.

The Presidents of Iran and Turkey was welcomed by the President of Russia upon arrival at the summit hall.

After posing for a photo, Dr Rouhani, Putin and Erdoğan began the summit as heads of high-ranking officials of the three countries.

The tripartite summit of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Russian Federation and Turkey will be held with the aim of examining the process and outcome of the Astana negotiations and the beginning of domestic political processes in Syria.

Furthermore, with regard to the successes achieved in the fight against takfiri ISIS terrorists in Syria, a review of the next steps for long-term stability of the situation in this country will be discussed by the authorities of Iran, Russia and Turkey.

Before this summit, a meeting of senior Iranian, Russian and Turkish experts was held in Tehran and the meeting of the foreign ministers of the three countries was held in Antalya, Turkey, in which the Foreign Minister of Iran, Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, met and discussed the Astana meetings, preparing the ground for holding the summit of the three countries.
