President Rouhani left Tehran on Wednesday, heading for Sochi, Russia in order to take part at the tripartite summit of Iran, Russia and Turkey

President was officially seen off at Mehrabad Airport by Advisor to the Supreme Leader in International Affairs, Dr Aliakbar Velayati and a number of ministers and vice-presidents.

President's Chief of Staff Dr Mahmoud Vaezi, Foreign Minister Dr Mohammad Javad Zarif, Vice-President in Economic Affairs Dr Mohammad Nahavandian, Cultural Advisor Dr Hessamoddin Ashena, and Advisor to the President Dr Hamid Abutalebi are accompanying Dr Rouhani on this trip.

The tripartite summit of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Russian Federation and Turkey will be held with the aim of examining the process and outcome of the Astana negotiations and the beginning of domestic political processes in Syria.

Furthermore, with regard to the successes achieved in the fight against takfiri ISIS terrorists in Syria, a review of the next steps for long-term stability of the situation in this country will be discussed by the authorities of Iran, Russia and Turkey.

Before this trip, a meeting of senior Iranian, Russian and Turkish experts was held in Tehran and the meeting of the foreign ministers of the three countries was held in Antalya, Turkey, in which the Foreign Minister of Iran, Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, met and discussed the Astana meetings, preparing the ground for holding the summit of the three countries.
