We must not let the achievements of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) undermine, said the President adding: “JCPOA carried the message that complicated international issues can be resolved through dialogue and within the framework of a win-win approach and any harm to this idea can carry the dangerous message to the world that diplomacy is not able to settle problems”.

Referring to some actions by the current US administration in relation to the JCPOA as concerning for the global community, he said: “The only institution that must supervise the JCPOA is the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which has explicitly pronounced Iran’s commitment to the agreement seven times”.

“Some must not attach a clear agreement like JCPOA to other issues,” said the President adding that Iran and France’s cooperation is regional issues, particularly in the fight against terrorism is essential.

He continued: “Iran is fighting against terrorism in the region and in this regard, our military advisors are in Iraq and Syria upon the official requests by the governments of these countries”.

Dr Rouhani referred to the issue of Iraq and the importance of the overwhelming support of the international community, including France, from the constitution and territorial integrity of the country, adding: “The talk of a referendum in Iraqi Kurdistan Region and any move to change the borders and geography of the countries of the region are very dangerous and can create long-term conflicts in the region that will not benefit any country”.

The French president also emphasized the country's resolve to cement and deepen relations with Tehran, adding: "The post-JCPOA era provides a good opportunity to promote cooperation, and Paris is committed to supporting it."

Emmanuel Macron emphasised: “France calls for full implementation of the JCPOA and considers any renegotiation to be meaningless”.

He also mentioned referendum on the Iraqi Kurdistan and said: “Iraqi Kurds should be encouraged about their role and position in the legal structure of authority in Iraq”.

The French president also proposed the formation of a contact group composed of all the involved parties and regional powers, United Nations and permanent members of the Security Council to end the conflicts in Syria.

He also emphasised that the purpose of the formation of such a contact group did not mean shutting down and undermining the process of the Astana negotiations, but it was complementary to it.

The presidents of the two countries also discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues.
