President in a meeting with Belarusian upper house chairman:

Private economic sectors of Iran, Belarus must promote ties/Welcoming Belarusian president's suggestion for new joint projects

"Iran and Belarus have very good potentials for joint industrial cooperation that must be taken advantage of to boost relations between private economic sectors of the two countries," said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich.

In the meeting that was held on Sunday, Dr Rouhani also welcomed Belarusian president's suggestion for new joint projects and said: "The first step for developing economic relations between the two countries is establishing good banking relations between the two countries and this process must accelerate".

"The next important point is our agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and if we reach a final agreement in this regard, a great development will be created in economic relations between the two countries," said Rouhani.

He referred to the North-South Corridor and added: "Iran and Belarus have a long list of economic and cultural potentials that they can use to deepen relations and cooperation".

He then mentioned close ideas and viewpoints of the two countries in international issues and said that Iran and Belarus can further deepen relations by using these bases for cooperation.

At the same meeting, the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich also congratulated Dr Rouhani on his re-election and said: "Your speech in the swearing-in ceremony was very powerful and balanced, explaining your views in internal and foreign policies".

"The powerful resolve and high levels of political relations between the two countries must be actualised," said Myasnikovich adding: "Iran and Belarus have good potentials to develop cooperation in fields such as oil, industry, car manufacturing and import-export".
